The last time the girls went to a dodgeball birthday party I didn't get to attend and Theresa had to take care of Micah the entire time. Even though Emily and Callie "played," they ended up just standing there and would never move away from the wall. Today it took a little encouragement, but they eventually got into the action and Callie was even the last one standing on her team. Now she wants to have her birthday party there, but I think she really just likes the idea of everyone bringing her presents and then getting to open them. We will have to see what she wants when we get closer to time and Chuck E. Cheese is her other option.
This summer Emily has really wanted to learn how to ride her bicycle. Unfortunately, we have been extremely busy and it has been extremely hot! Can you say over 60 days of 100+ temperatures? Last weekend, our temperature dropped to the 80's and it has been wonderful! So, on Labor Day I put training wheels on Emily's bicycle and we headed over to the church parking lot so the girls could ride their bikes. Emily has done really well so far and Callie just wants to go fast!
This past weekend we got to spend Sunday afternoon with my parents and sister for Labor Day. After lunch, Theresa and I took off to run some errands while mom and dad took care of the kids. It sure does feel weird to go into a store without having to hold a baby or tell one of the girls that we can't buy everything they see and want. While we were gone, mom and dad took the kids to play outside and they had a blast.
Since the new Winnie The Pooh movie came out the day I left for World Changers, I promised to take the girls as soon as I got back. So, for our latest daddy-daughter date, Emily, Callie, and I headed to the movies to watch Pooh and his friends on the big screen. Both of the girls really enjoyed the movie and it was just the right lenght for Callie. She was ready to go right as the movie was about to end. Of course, she could have just been ready to go and get a refill on our popcorn!
I always love my time with my girls, and this was very special for me after being gone for ten days to Roanoke, VA. Because so many movies are not appropriate for the girls, it was really nice to be able to take the girls to Winnie The Pooh without having to worry about the content.
