For Christmas, the girls (and eventually Micah) received a new playground to replace one my parents got for them a few years ago. With all of our winter snow and cold weather, we had to wait until recently to assemble their gift since it would not have been fair to put it all together only to make the girls wait weeks to actually be able to enjoy it.
The first three pictures are of Emily and Callie helping take down the old swing set the day before dad and I started working on getting the new playground up. As you can also see, the two boxes for the playground came with a ton of boards and almost thirty steps to follow. Needless to say, this was going to take awhile!
Due to my busy schedule and finding time when dad was available, our first Saturday to work on the playground just happened to be on one of our cold Spring days. We spent close to six or seven hours working on the new playground. Even though the directions said it would take two people eight to ten hours, we were nowhere close to being done after day one. So, a couple of weeks later, dad came back over on a Saturday and we were able to finish the job this time. I know that we definitely exceeded the eight to ten hour mark, but we got the job done.
The girls have already really enjoyed the new playground and are looking forward to getting to play on it all summer long. I still have to attach the stakes and put sand under the fort, but for now they are free to play and have fun. This labor of love was well worth it and I really enjoyed spending time with my dad working on this project.
