It has truly been a great birthday! Last night at church, Theresa and the girls surprised me with cake and ice cream. Our associate pastor's wife made this OKC Thunder cake for me and not only did it look good, but it tasted great! Then today I was overwhelmed by the birthday wishes and dinner with my family at Texas Roadhouse. God has been so good to me and I am humbled to have such an amazing birthday. THUNDERUP!
After being in Tulsa for two years, the elephants have returned to the OKC Zoo. We got to go last night and check out their new habitat and man it is nice! The girls loved watching them eat and walk through the water. We will definitely be back soon to visit them and all the other zoo animals.
Starting last night and until about noon today, much of Oklahoma received a ton of snow. The news media is comparing this snow storm to the Christmas Eve blizzard we had in 2009. I think what makes this storm worse are the lower temperatures. Tomorrow the high is only 10 degrees and the low for Thursday night is -4!
Our biggest fear through all of the snow and cold weather is losing our electricity. We did lose power for about two hours today, but we managed just fine. Fortunately we have several church members close to the church that either have propane or other companies supplying their electricity that we can stay with if necessary.
Callie has enjoyed having Emily home from school and we know Emily will miss tomorrow if not more school this week. I can honestly say that I hope this is our last round of snow this year. I'm already dreaming about the upcoming summer!
What do you do when the power goes out during a snow storm? You play a Veggie Tales board game of course! The girls have really enjoyed (for the most part) having Emily home from school. I love watching them play together and am very thankful our power was only out about two hours.
I really like these awards because it is a very simple way to motivate students to work hard and do their best in all areas of school. It was really special to see her light up on the stage as she got cheers from her peers.
(Today they were supposed to dress like their favorite book character and Emily chose to be Fancy Nancy.)
