Tonight our entire church went bowling for a some summer fun and fellowship. We had a great turnout and the girls had a blast. Emily was able to bowl by herself most of the night and Callie only needed a little help. I love it when the church gets out of the "four walls" and shows the world how to have a little fun!

This past week I have been gone to a leadership camp called Super Summer with some of my students.  It has been a great week, but I have really missed my family.  Last night before our evening worship, Theresa was able to bring Emily, Callie, and Micah up to see me for a little while.  When I showed them my apartment for the week, they were fascinated by my bed.  So, I let them hang out for a little bit where daddy is sleeping for the week.  Of course Callie just wanted to keep trying to go and down the side stairs and was sad when she had to leave.

Even though I only saw them for a short time, it was well worth it.  I can't wait to go home and be with my family!

The other day my girls were invited to a Princess Tea Party hosted by a couple of girls in my youth group. They made up invitations and gave them to Emily and Callie at church. Today was the big day and they were both very excited.

They ended up spending three hours having tea, painting nails, watching Cinderella, and playing outside. As they walked in door with goodie bags in hand, I could tell they both loved the royal treatment. It is amazing how a little attention from girls a few years older means the world to a three year old and a five year old. Thanks Paige and Katie for making their day!

(Here are additional pictures taken at the party.)

Today when I went to pick up Emily from school, she had this sticker stuck to her shirt. It was a reminder about a school fundraiser tonight at a local restaurant.

Think I could get with doing this for my youth when I need to communicate a message to their parents? I can just picture them all lining up to leave and me putting their reminder sticker on them!

This is Callie during our Wednesday night dinner last week.  Right now she copies everything she sees.  Because Emily has really been about taking care of her dolls, so has Callie.  The way we sit or move or even talk can quickly become something Callie tries to do.  Her speech is really improving and I can tell she is just about to really start talking a lot more.

As I think about how much she copies what she sees, I can't help but wonder what it would look like if we as Christians did the same thing?  If we copied the life of Jesus I would dare say we would be in a much better state than we are currently.  As a parent, I see the world through a whole new lens.  Jesus was exactly right in using the faith of little children to describe how we must approach salvation.

I love my girls and this once again reminds me how important my job is as a parent.  They quickly pick up on my bad and good habits.  I just have to make sure there are more good than bad ones to copy.

Yesterday, our Children's Ministry took a trip to the Jasmine Moran Children's Museum for our Fabulous Friday. This was my first trip to the museum even though the rest of my family had already been. I can see why Emily really liked it. There were so many cool things for her to experience and do. We will definitely go back when we aren't in charge of 37 kids! Here are a few pictures from our trip.

      Youth Worker Chirstmas Party

On Friday night Theresa, Emily, and I went to our youth worker Christmas party. I decided that instead of a traditional party with food and a gift exchange we would just go bowling. Not to toot my own horn, but this worked out great. We usually take our youth bowling once or twice a year, but that means we have extra responsibility than if we were just going with our respected families. I enjoyed just hanging out with my youth workers and their families in a low-stress environment. Plus, who doesn't have fun at a bowling alley? This was also a great night for us because this was Emily's first time to bowl. She did really great her first game. She even got a strike (with the help of some bumpers and daddy's arm)! It was really cool to see her reaction as the pins fell down. She could have cared less if all ten of them fell down on the first try or even at all. During the second and third games she definitely was a little tired, but ended up getting her "second wind" and finished the night laughing and dancing to the music. It was a great night not only for my family, but also for my leadership team. If you are looking for something to do this Christmas season to relieve some stress, then I highly recommend heading to your local bowling alley.

Isn't that such a great reaction?!?

She got an 89 for her first game. Not too bad for only being 2 1/2.

Now exactly how does the ball return work?
PS My wife tagged me in her blog. So, I am now thinking of five random facts about myself to post in my next blog entry.
